Clayton Nielsen (1923-2020) was born on the family farm near Diamond Lake, Minnesota. He was educated at Grand View and St. Olaf colleges. He attended seminary at Grand View Seminary and was ordained in 1947. At that time he married Virginia Jensen of Kimballton, Iowa; they would have three children: Warren, Lance, and Melanie. Clayton served Lutheran churches in Kansas, Wisconsin, Nebraska and California. He was a great promoter of Danish culture and received the Grand View Danish Heritage award in 2011. In retirement he and Virginia lived in Kimballton, Iowa and ultimately Solvang, California. This collection includes fourteen boxes of Nielsen's collected sermons. Box 15 contains correspondence and articles relating to the life of W. Clayton Nielsen. There is an obituary for his wife Virginia (Jensen) Nielsen; and also her manual and supplement "Mass Communications" which she wrote for the Omaha Public Schools in the 1970s. There are also three books owned by Nielsen: Sangbog for det danske folk i Amerika (6th ed., 1949); Nye Testamente/New Testament (A.B.S., 1909); & Den Danske Salmebog (Kbh., 1956). 20231002.
