The Danish Home for the Aged began in Brooklyn, New York in 1906 as a place to house and care for elderly Danes. Two or three houses were used for this purpose. The Home was chartered and supported by numerous Danish American organizations in the greater New York City area. In 1954 the Home moved to Croton-on-Hudson, New York and settled into what had been the estate of a wealthy New York financier. The Home continued its mission of providing care and hospitality to its residents in an atmosphere of Danish heritage until 2020. This collection includes several large archival boxes containning history, finances, events, correspondence, business records, photographs and resident files. Some of the material is being digitized, but access will be restricted.
Box 8 contains an incomplete series of Annual Financial Reports and 990 forms from 1959-2019. Also included are Monthly Annual Reports from 1944-1959; Supplemental Inspection Documentation from 2002-2022; and the Danish Athletic Club Loan (1979-1980).
