Edward Hansen was a Lutheran pastor (1942-1947, 1956-1960) in Minneapolis and Hutchinson, Minnesota, a college teacher (1947-1956, 1979-1982) and a Lutheran Bishop in the A.L.C. (1960-1978). Within the packets are a listing of the contents. Pkts. 1-2 contains ordination, installation and commissioning services as well as sermons and articles. There is the installation of Rev. Edward Hansen and Rev. H. A. Svendsen at Main Street Lutheran (later Faith) in Hutchinson, Minn. These pkts. cover the years 1956-1986, so many of the events occurred when Rev. Hansen was serving as a Bishop in the American Lutheran Church. There are the instructions for these rites also. Pkt. 3 has miscellaneous topics, including reflections on Christmas. Pkt. 4 has devotional stories and articles (2000-2003). Pkt. 5 has sermons by various pastors, including one given by Rev. Hansen on Dec. 25, 1983 at Westwood Lutheran Church. Pkt. 5 has sermons given by Rev. Wilton Bergstrand. Pkt. 7 has lectures given at Mansfield College, Oxford. (1967). Pkt. 8 has sermons by Rev. Stanley C. Brown. Pkt. 9 has clippings on "The first Easter" and also meditations by Ed Hansen. Pkt. 10 includes material on the concordat, which arose when the Lutheran and the Episcopal Church were seeking altar and pulpit fellowship. The problem was the differing views that Episcopalians and Lutherans had of bishops. The Lutherans did not believe in apostolic succession, fearing that it distracted from the primacy of the word alone. Rev.
