Simon Peder Korshoj (1906-1977) was born in Vildbjerg, Denmark. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1926. He worked as a bricklayer. He attended the Dana College Winter School in Blair, Nebraska in 1928/1929. He worked as a construction worker for Phillips Petroleum Co. He established Korshoj Construction Co. He worked for the War Department after World War II. Korshoj Construction Company built schools, churches, bridges, highways, railroads and oil- and gas pipelines. It also did flood protection work, irrigation projects and construction on Air Force bases.
This box contains business correspondence (1952-1968) for the Korshoj Construction Company, Inc. Pkt. 7 contains a booklet with the history of the Korshoj Construction softball team (193-1971.) There is also one sample of Midwest Contractor (July 1963), which has an article about Simon Korshoj titled "An American Success Story" and one clipping from Jyllands Posten with an article by Paul Nyhom titled "En hojborg for danskheden i Amerika". Nyholm's article is about Dana College. There is some Danish.
