This box contains photocopies of 3 journals kept by Pauline Petersen, later Mrs. N.P.J. Nielsen, when she taught school in and around Harlan, Iowa (1907-1910). Edward Hansen has provided an index to some of the people mentioned in the diaries.
There is also a travel diary and journal kept by Jennie Lund with her impressions of Denmark (1930) as well as an account of the rochelle salts mystery in which 2 Harlan people died when taking contaminated salts. The salts had been purchased at a drug store owned by August Levendahl.
