Jørgen Peter Nielsen was born in Denmark in 1877 and was brought to America in 1879. He was ordained in 1905 by the UDELC after attending Dana College and Trinity Seminary (Blair, NE). He served the church at St. John's in Philadelphia, Brorson High School in ND, Missionary to Japan 1909-1927, Professor at Trinity Seminary 1927-1946 (President 1932-1946), and Superintendent at Good Shepherd Home for the Aged (Blair, NE). He died in 1963.
Box contains six books dealing with Nielsen's work in Japan: Takenobu's Japanese-English Dictionary (Tokyo, 1918); The Hymnal No. II: Prepared by a Union Committee (Tokyo, 1909) in Japanese; Tohoku the Scotland of Japan by Christopher Noss (1918); Japan on the Upward Trail by William Axling (1923); Tales of Old Japan by Lord Redesdale (1910); The Revolt of Asia by Upton Close (1927).
