Jorgensen (1881-1966) was born in Langsted, Denmark. He became a carpenter and in 1904 he married Rosa Charlotte Johanne Schultz (1880-1965). The Jorgensen family immigrated to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1910. He farmed in Hampton, Nebraska (1911-1916) and in Sidney, Montana (1916-1920). He moved to California in 1920. He established the Jorgensen Funeral Home in Fowler, California, where he also retired. The Jorgensens had 4 daughters: Edna Kirstine Frederikke (1905-1985), Ruth Inger (1907-1981), Lilly Helene (1912-2003) and Agnes Ethel (1914-) Lilly Helene Jorgensen (1913-2003) was born in Hampton, Nebraska. She graduated from Selma Union High School (1929) and Fresno State College ine elementary education. She taught at Oaks Indian Mission School in Oaks, Oklahoma and also kindergarten at the Nebraska School for the Visually Handicapped. She retired in 1979. Lilly Jorgensen married Severin Sorensen in 1937. The Sorensens had 2 daughters and one son: Charlotte (1938-), Starla Rae (1945-) and Karl Beck (1952-). They lived in Nebraska City from 1942 onwards. Severin was also a teacher. This box contains 124 letters and cards from Lilly Jorgensen Sorensen to her parents, Hans and Rosa Jorgensen (1958-1960s).
