They came to Omaha, where Peter's uncle, Anton Grobeck lived. He owned the Grobeck Dairy. They were married at Pella Lutheran Church in 1912 and moved to White River, S.D., where they homesteaded. They had 9 children there: Margaret (Breese), Evelyn (Bousfield), Edwin, Clarence, Lettie (Anderson), Ruth (Falksen), Erna (Berthelsen), Kenneth and Marian Jane (Nelson). In 1937 due to drought and the depression, they lost the farm to taxes. They moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota where they rented land and then purchased their own farm in Freeborn County in 1941. This box contains the Petersen family records (slagtsbog) created by Agnes Mogensen, a family member in Denmark. It includes the Anton Grobeck family and his descendants. There are also photocopies of Katherine Petersen's photo album (1948). There are naturalization certificates for Peter and Katherine Petersen, Peter's birth record and a baptismal certificate for Peter Petersen. Pkt. 3 contains a photograph of Peter Petersen's home with family members posed in front of it, photos of Peter and Kathrine at age 23 and their wedding picture, as well as the certificate of registration for Peter and Kathrine Nielsen on the American immigrant wall of honor on Ellis Island.
