Niels Peter and Maren Nielsen. He married Marilyn Holm in 1957. They had 4 children: Karen, Erik, Lisa and Ruth. He served the following churches: Our Savior's in Sioux City, Iowa (1958-1963), Our Savior's in Stoughton, Wisconsin (1963-1974), Covenant Lutheran in Stoughton, Wisconsin (1974-1977), Orfordville Lutheran in Orfordville, Wisconsin (1977-1987) and as a Chaplin at Salem Lutheran Home, Elk Horn, Iowa (1987-1991).
